Methodology meets with success in translating NERC Standards

For those of you who have attended the NERC Approved course Compliance Auditor Training for NERC Standards, you have learned how to color-code ALL of the NERC Standards to the point where you can create an extremely clear translation of what the NERC Standards mean to your individual NERC Registered Entity.

From the feedback we have encountered in the past six months, we can proudly say the following of the attendees:

  • You have mastered the patterns and codes which rule over the NERC Standard verbiage, as you have realized that the verbiage was not written so that you could understand it; rather, it was written to provide surgical consistency for audit purposes. You have redirected your energies towards compliance to the NERC Standards, as opposed to fighting an impossible battle to overturn the Standards due to apparent inconsistencies, errors, and omissions.
  • You have returned to your compliance tasks to find that you can instantly achieve a higher level of success in understanding, implementing, and managing the completion of all compliance tasks, even among dozens of entities you are in charge of, all at once.
  • You have talked to people in your company who never agree with anything new, but tell you that this methodology you brought back “Really makes a lot of sense.”
  • You have called your NERC Regional Entity and asked many questions in new ways which no longer compromise their independence, and found that the Region can answer many more of your questions, without directly telling you how to be compliant.
  • You have accomplished these breakthroughs through the use of technical specifications, facts, and hard numbers. No longer do you need to depend exclusively on subjectivity, philosophy, your opinion, conflicting guidance, and endless debate sessions which measure the experiences of your peers. You no longer even need to “interpret” the NERC Standards, because you have a very clear roadmap of how to consistently * translate * NERC Standard verbiage into a technical specification, simply building the engine which is your system to accomplish NERC Compliance.

None of you have claimed that it was easy, neither has anyone reported that it did not require some real work. But we have found that “Power People” don’t shy away from work, they just want to know that the effort put in will result in step-by-step clarity, telling you how to perform with flying colors during an audit.

For those of you who have not attended the course, talk to some of the 200+ of your peers who have, and schedule your attendance at the next available session or advanced certification classes. Training is now being scheduled for advanced, live-audit labs for GO/GOP and TO/TOP (Level B DL2C Certification) and CIP Version 3 advanced training courses (Level C DL2C Certification).
